Ever feel like you are living in a sitcom? We do, the jokes just write themselves living with Mr H. After racing to the finish line to retrieve my passport lost in the post we managed to make it to Cuba. It would be difficult to sum up the holiday here, except to say I have never met such happy people, and it rubs off, I felt very happy every day. Meanwhile, back at home, grown up daughter was forcing every towel she used for 14 days into the washing machine all at once – it’s my own fault – I always make a joke that we will have to pat ourselves down with facecloths on return. Needless to say washing machine motor burnt out. This is not the first time this has happened, for those of you who have read my short story The Washing Machine Memoirs in https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06XT7TJ6Y my collection ‘Quirky Tales to Make Your Day’ you’ll know. So husband gets the camper van going to remove the old washer and then buy a second hand one. He changes the flat tyre, he gets a push from some gardeners across the road, he drives it around the corner, where campervan decides to conk out AGAIN. On returning to the van some half an hour later, VAN HAS BEEN CLAMPED. He only forgot to pay the road tax – a genuine mistake we don’t condone vehicle tax dodgers. Then to continue this series of events, he pays tax, van was parked outside my parents so Dad text when clamp was removed. Husband locates a second hand washing machine, arranges delivery but overnight the seller decides not to sell it! I am now waiting for delivery of new washing machine – one week on, holiday laundry is sat in an increasing pile in the utility room. But – THE VAN KEYS HAVE NOW GONE MISSING!
There is a short story in here somewhere, but I’m feeling too chaotic to write it.
