About

Look, there’s a photo of me driving my mobility scooter! Thank you for visiting me here on my blog, Samantha Henthorn Finds The Right Words. This blog serves as my author website, you can also find me on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. I live happily in Bury near Manchester UK with my fabulous husband and gorgeous grownup daughter. I have two cats and one dog. I have been writing full time since 2014, I write every day, I read every day, so we more than likely have loads in common.

I currently have seven books available on Amazon (Download and paperback), ‘1962 (An Uplifting Tale of 1960s Lancashire)’, ‘Piccalilly’, ‘Quirky Tales to Make Your Day’. And The ‘Curmudgeon Avenue Series’ (currently four books). I enjoyed writing them, you will enjoy reading them, promise!

My credentials are, I used to be a registered mental health nurse, but had to accept early retirement due to my health. I participated in a two-year creative writing course at a local library. I am partway through a Creative Writing and English Literature degree.

I write three types of posts;

  1. Fiction written by myself, from a few words to a short story, accompanied by WordPress photographs, my sketches or – if I’m lucky sketches from my two illustrator friends Kerry Howarth and Lyndsay Prince. Curmudgeon Avenue is serialised on this blog. (Book 2 currently running weekly).
  2. Ramblings and amusing observations about life and writing in my fortnightly ‘writerly’ post. I tend not to write anything serious, but admire those that do. Currently publishing guest posts for my “What’s in a Character Name’ feature.
  3. Book reviews, although my priority is writing my next novel, and/or short story collection, if I read something and enjoy it I will share it. However, if I have nothing useful to say, then I won’t say anything at all. I am not a professional reviewer, and only read what I want to read. Occasionally, these reviews will be part of a promotion.
  4. 5star-shiny-web Had to share this somewhere – Curmudgeon Avenue is a Readers’ Favorite FIVE STARS book.
